Twisty hallways, demented doll parades, and not knowing what may be real or just subconscious under the surface. Will this last Kon film be the final blow in our Season 2 bout? This time on Anime Was (Not) A Mistake we reconvene for our Satoshi Kon vs. Mamoru Hosoda marathon with one of the best Christmas movies of all time, Tokyo Godfathers. Even though we may be on a quest to return a lost baby to it’s family, we can’t resist stopping for a drink, doting over cats, and squabbling in the streets with the people we’ve grown close to. Don your Santa hats and festive spirits, there’s only one anime trope that we want under the tree this year, and that is true family are the friends you make along the way. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve gotta drink some Sake in this cemetery. Merry Christmas!

Anime Was (Not) a Mistake is back for Season 2! Release the Raccoon! Following the typical anime structure, you know what that means? It’s time for a fighting tournament! Your hosts, Dan and Jonathan, have each chosen a champion to represent them in the hopes of claiming glory, fame, and primo animation. Make no mistake, we will be at each other’s throat but, if we happen to learn a thing or two along the way...what a concept. It’s Satoshi Kon vs. Mamoru Hosada. First, in the bracket is Kon’s pervasive, and dream-like look into pop idol fame, 1997’s Perfect Blue. Mima may be trying to break into acting, but she must be careful, there’s a stalker after her and she’s not sure if she’s going insane. Whatever the reason, this episode will get your heartbeat racing! "Your heart goes thump-thump-thump-thump, when you’re in love, but it pays off, pays off, when you’re loved back!"
