Our "Summer of Cyborg" event continues as the second season of Cyborg 009: The Cyber Soldier begins (and gets moved to a 1:30 AM time slot). We finally explore more of 005's backstory as he confronts a mysterious blue beast. Next, the cybernetic city of Computopia develops a deadly crush on 003. Then, the 00 Cyborgs come across an island of mutated monsters and menacing robotic squirrels. Finally, in one of the finest episodes of the series, 004 is forced to confront his doppelganger while investing an abandoned castle. We have a hearty mix of technological and supernatural terrors on today's episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake, so we hope you'll join us.

Anime Was (Not) A Mistake says don your swords and sandals, for a cybernetic clash of gods on today’s episode of our Summer of Cyborg series. With Black Ghost, seemingly out of the picture, a new world threat emerges. A pantheon of super beings, claiming to be of divine descent descends on our beloved team. Just what is this glorified pantheon and what of this “justice” they claim to fight for? Will humanity survive or surrender in the wake of this strange world order? We can only hope that the 00 cyborgs can band together and answer our prayers.

Our Summer of Cyborg event continues with a batch of episodes that is 25% Gallant and 75% Goofus. The conflict between the 00 Cyborgs and Black Ghost comes to an explosive end. When our heroes are brought to the doorstep of the evil organization, they decide to go on the offensive and confront the sinister Skull directly. With one conflict (seemingly) ended, the Cyborgs are enjoy a little bit of normalcy. 006 works to reignite his culinary dreams, while 002 burns some garlic. Rest assured that our friend in the Bronx does get a chance to shine, however. Anime Was (Not) A Mistake’s Summer of Cyborg continues in globe hopping pursuit of Black Ghost. Be it, Christmas in Paris, a foggy London theater, or in the midst of a civil war in the Republic of Muamba, today we have some cinematic movements for you all! 003 dances through the past, 007 is cast in a familiar role, and 008 tries to pick up the pieces of a broken homeland. These moments will cause you to question the line between machine and humanity, while delving deep into the backstories of three of our heroes. You know Dan, I once acted in a production of The Mists of London… alas, I’m getting ahead of myself, that is a story for a different time.

Our "Summer of Cyborg" event continues as the 00 Cyborgs encounter old friends and confront new enemies (sometimes, they are one in the same...) First, we delve into 004's backstory and see how it colors his perspective on the ongoing Black Ghost conflict. Next, 009 returns to his old neighborhood while searching for a kidnapped Dr. Kozumi. Things have changed in Tokyo, however, and the 00 Cyborg are forced to face their toughest opponent yet. Finally, something happens involving a giant octopus. In this Summer of Cyborg strap in as we devote the next few months to assembling and analyzing a series that made us into the weebs we are today. Nine mechanically engineered, superpowered cyborgs, a shadowy syndication by the name of Black Ghost and enough Shonen action you would think you were a kid, pressed to the T.V. screen watching Toonami again! Usually, we here at Anime Was (Not) a Mistake pride ourselves on being. “Fast, cheap, but average.” However, that is not the case today! Jonathan and Dan welcome you all to our first Asian film festival, entitled Animasterpiece Theater. For the next few weeks, we are donning our best berets and looking at some Classique Asian cinema spanning decades and our personal tastes, from our box seats. Won’t you join us? Tonight, we begin our little festival with Shin'ichirô Ueda’s cinematic, cult classic, comedy-horror One Cut of the Dead (2017). This will be sure to thrill, chill, and maybe even KILL you…from laughter. Get your prop bloody arms ready, take your union provided bathroom break, and most importantly, whatever happens, absolutely “Do not stop rolling!”

This week on Anime Was (Not) A Mistake, the Sinister Six has driven us into the farthest reaches of space (but at least it's filled with pretty colors). Famed smugglers Stella Star and Akton stumble upon a crisis that threatens to destroy the entire galaxy. The Emperor's son has gone missing while searching for the evil Count's superweapon. It's up to Stella, Akton, and the robotic sheriff Elle to find the prince and foil the Count's somewhat ineffectual plan. We hope you'll join us for an action-packed adventure filled with lasers, metal tubes, and Texas accents in 1978's Starcrash.
