Sunday Aug 28, 2022
The fiery soul of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake has been reignited as we enter a new era! (and we're 90% certain that it's not just heartburn.) Hiroyuki Imaishi's Promare focuses on the dynamic relationship between young firefighter Galo Thymos and Mad Burnish leader Lio Fotia. Humanity is steadily recovering from a cataclysm know as the "Great World Blaze," in which a segment of the population developed explosive pyrokinetic abilities. Cities have been reinforced with advanced fire-suppression equipment to resist so-called Burnish attacks. Galo and the rest of Burning Rescue utilize special technology of their own to keep civilians safe. After his first battle against Lio, Galo is forced to question the status quo in Promepolis. While Lio comes to terms with the true nature of his abilities, Galo will have to confront a lifelong hero who is hiding a dark secret. Will Galo and Lio be able to set aside their differences to face this apocalyptic threat? If the world is gonna keep on turning, then that fire is gonna have to keep on burning! So hop into your mobile firefighting fortress and tune your emergency radio into Anime Was (Not) A Mistake!

Episode 176 - AWNAM: Sinister Six XVI: Australia (2008)
Sunday Aug 14, 2022
Sunday Aug 14, 2022
Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy! Oi! Oi! Oi! Anime Was (Not) A Mistake is ready to tread where Dan has never gone before, inside the chaotic mind of Baz Luhrmann in the Land Down Under. Our Sinister Six series continues with 2008's romantic/war/historical drama/period piece/camp Australia. Besides having Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman act out how Dan and Jonathan first met, this film may be our hardest to classify on the podcast to date. We can't handle the imminent outbreak of war, the shocking rise of beef prices, or getting those big bloody bulls into that big bloody metal ship! Make sure you pack plenty of Poor Man's Rum, because when the rains come the only thing you can be sure of is that the roo is always in the bag.

Episode 175 - AWNAM: Sinister Six XV: An Alien From L.A. (1988)
Sunday Aug 07, 2022
Sunday Aug 07, 2022
Today's installment of Sinister Six takes us from the beaches of L.A. to the subterranean streets of Atlantis. Wanda Saknussemm, portrayed by Kathy Ireland, prays for something exciting to happen in her otherwise uneventful life. She soon receives a letter explaining that her father has disappeared while exploring some ancient ruins. (The Spell of the Unown parallels don't stop there.) While searching for her father, Wanda takes a tumble and finds herself in a hidden underground world. At the center of this world is the legendary city of Atlantis, which has become a totalitarian regime with plenty of cyberpunk trimmings. When it becomes apparent that her father has been captured by the Atlantean government, Wanda sets out to rescue him and find a way back to the surface. She's aided by a grumbling rogue named Gus, stalked by a mutant witch named Shank, and pursued by the villainous General Rykov. She also gets a love interest twenty minutes before the movie ends, but that's another matter entirely. So hop into your stupid scooty mobile, tune into Anime Was (Not) A Mistake, and hear how this *ahem* journey to the center of the Earth unfolds!

Episode 173:One Piece: Stampede
Sunday Jul 24, 2022
Sunday Jul 24, 2022
While Anime Was (Not) A Mistake has never been invited to any cons, our presence was finally requested at this year's Pirate Festival. Hopefully this is just a really fun party and no one has ulterior motives. One Piece: Stampede was released in 2019 to celebrate the anime's 20th anniversary. As such, the film is loaded with cameos from canon and filler characters alike. Buena Festa has invited pirates from around the globe to compete for a mysterious treasure that supposedly belonged to Gol D. Roger himself. Joining Festa is "Demon Heir" Douglas Bullet, a previously-unmentioned member of the former Pirate King's crew. Festa intends to create a spectacle that will override Roger's legacy, while Bullet is determined to stand alone as the world's strongest pirate. Monkey D. Luffy, his crew, and the other pirates belonging to the Worst Generation will have to unite to order to stop Bullet's seismic assault. If the younger pirates fail, the entire One Piece world will be consumed by chaos. We hope you'll join us for today's episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake, which was exciting enough to get the attention of both "Big New" Morgans AND Jonathan!
